Quality Control Laboratory Technician

Night Shift – 6PM-6AM – $15/HR PLUS $1.50 Shift Differential

Day Shift 6AM-6PM – $15/hr

  • Encourage and enforce cleanliness on the part of the staff Enforce GMP’s and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Daily replenishment and issuance of PPE such as Beard Nets, hair nets, ear plugs and gloves.
  • Print Box Labels.
  • Collect daily paperwork from Line Operators.
  • Print out all forms for QC and Operators.
  • Responsible for the calibration of refractometer and pH Meter.
  • Daily temperature monitoring and recording of incubator and walk in cooler.
  • Collection of samples and shipments to USDA and/or customers as per company guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist with laboratory organization including supply inventory, calibrations, cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Ensure compliance to GMP, HACCP, food safety, & quality SOPs & standards throughout the facility.
  • Monitor, documenting with notification of facility sanitation & GMP’s
  • Monitor finished goods- packaging and date codes, sampling, leak detection, product brix, micro, color, and flavor.
  • Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs)
  • Night shift – Conduct microbial testing as required including but not limited to Aerobic plate count, Yeast and Mold.
  • Fill out micro reports.
  • Perform Brix and pH tests of co-packer samples.
  • Test and add chlorine to hydro cooler return tank.
  • Monitoring employees for GMP compliance related to employee training, food handling and dress codes.
  • Perform pasteurizer divert challenge.
  • ATP Swab batch tanks (Climb ladder to perform).
  • ATP Swab Fill Heads post CIP Toyos and Cup Lines
  • Verify Pasteurizer Post CIP Brix for three pasteurizers.
  • Fill Out post CIP report with readings of caustic levels.
  • Perform post CIP inspection with supervisor.
  • Verify and fill out date change paperwork for 2 lines.
  • Ensure QC lab is clean, organized, and equipment is calibrated such as pH Scale and Thermometers.
  • Inspect Batch maker sheets.
  • Confirm Correct Pallet Tags.
  • Verify pouch weights.
  • Retail box weight reject test and inspect retail box date code.
  • Report on food safety and quality concerns to Quality Assurance Manager.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of all current OSHA and safety standards.
  • Attention to detail & Excellent written and oral communication skills preferably English/Spanish.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Must work well in teams and demonstrate behavior conducive to promoting strong teamwork.
  • Must possess a positive attitude in a fast-paced & changing production environment.
  • Must be punctual, on site and ready for work at scheduled hours.
  • Detail oriented.

Education and Experience:

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Food Safety & Quality Assurance in a Production environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • High School degree or equivalent.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.00 – $16.50 per hour
